This department was formed on the basis of Beijing Research Institute of Coal Chemistry, CCERC (CCRI). It has 166 staff members, of whom 11 are professors, 56 are senior engineers and 45 are engineers. It has made more than 200 research achievements over the past 40 years, of which, 61 research achievements won national or ministerial awards of science and technology advance and 28 got national patents. The department has trained more than 30 Masters and 4 Doctors.
